ABSTRACT
Multiple techniques and materials have been described for apexogenesis and apexification in immature permanent teeth. Two cases in which mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has been used as the material are described herein. In the first case, vital pulp capping was achieved in the left second mandibular premolar with vital pulp and a deep carious lesion. Dental pulp vitality was conserved, and apexogenesis treatment was successful. The second case had a right maxillary lateral incisor with necrotic pulp and an immature root. An MTA apical plug was the treatment choice. Treatment was successful in both cases, as evidenced on clinical and radiographic assessments and no observed complications during follow-up visits. Clinical aspects of apexogenesis and apexification and considerations about MTA have also been discussed.
